Kurdistan's Independence: Shocks and Shines
Presented by: Jegr Nathim
By: Public Relations
Why a sizable minority of our nation has lost the passion for independence? although Kurds have been experiencing a resurgence of patriotism but is that sense is now waning and does this have anything to do with our fragile identity? many researchers maintain that we have passed the stage of tribal infancy and have become a nation: but have we actually become a nation? an essential requirement of statehood is a well defined territory, but have we got clearly distinct borders? what are the theoretical limitations of the principle of self-determination and do we differentiate between the internal and external self-determination? and are we going to recognize the right of self-determination for other ethnic and minorities in post-independent Kurdistan? will our independence lead to cultural and intellectual emancipation? what are the economic, social and legal challenges we face should we declare independence?
