A delegation of the Vienna Diplomatic Academy visited the University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (UKH) on 5th and 7th of April 2025. Led by Dr. Goran Mustafa, KRG Representative in Austria and Dr. Thomas Row, professor and Chair of History in the Academy.
The delegation was later joined by Austrian Ambassador to Baghdad, Dr. Andrea Nasi, who travelled from Baghdad to welcome the delegation at UKH. The ambassador met with the academy students in the Austria Community Centre at UKH and delivered remarks about the centre’s role in promoting academic and cultural exchange between Austria and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
Later, the ambassador led a special Chatham House discussion with the academy and UKH students together, focusing on Iraq, the KRI and Austria relations and the role of diplomacy, trade, academia and cultural exchange in strengthening the relationship between the two countries.
On April 7th, we were delighted to welcome the delegation again before their departure to Vienna. The delegation enjoyed a campus tour and had the opportunity to explore the different facilities of the university.
