The Centre for Environmental Studies (CES) at the University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (UKH) is glad to annoucne that Prof. Dr. Dana Mawlood and Noor Khalid Yousif (CES Director and member, respectively) have co-authored a chapter titled “A Review of the Software Resources in Modelling Groundwater Contamination Transport: Case Studies in Iraq” in the recently published book “Water Engineering and Sustainability – Advances in Flow Control and Design”, by IntechOpen.
This chapter focuses on the application and evaluation of MODFLOW packages used in modeling groundwater flow and contamination transport. Through selected case studies from Iraq, the authors examine the capabilities and limitations of these software tools in predicting future aquifer behavior and the impact of contamination. Their findings underscore the evolving utility of MODFLOW in supporting effective groundwater resource management.
